Raptors Set Opening Night Roster

(October 30th, 2006) -- The Toronto Raptors announced Monday their roster for Wednesday’s regular season opener versus the New Jersey Nets at Continental Airlines Arena in East Rutherford, New Jersey. In accordance with league rules, all teams were required to reduce their training camp rosters to a maximum of 15 players by 6 p.m. today.

Each team will be required to carry 12 players on its active list and one player on its inactive list. Teams may have a maximum of three players on its inactive list. There is no injured list - a player’s designation can be changed from inactive to active on a game-to-game basis. Players sent to the NBA Development League will continue to count on a team’s inactive list.

The upcoming campaign marks the Raptors’ 12th season in the NBA. They sport a 5-6 mark in season openers. They defeated the Nets, 90-87, at Air Canada Centre in the 2003-04 opener.

The Raptors will start the season away from home for the first time since the 2001-02 campaign, and for the fourth time in franchise history. They return to Toronto for their home opener Friday, November 3 versus the Milwaukee Bucks.

The Raptors finished the preseason with a franchise-best 7-1 record, including a team-record 7-0 start.
