Loving Everything In T.O....
July 21, 3:03 p.m.

My wife and I brought our three boys to T.O. for the first time last week. But before I get into that, I need to say you’re right!!…I mean I was told about it…I saw it in the playoffs…talked to Chuck and Jack about it…but now I know it!!! I’ve received hundreds (no exaggeration) of e-mails welcoming me to Toronto and the Raptors Nation. I am overwhelmed and humbled by all of your kind words. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I wanted to get through all of them before my next blog, but I’m at an e-mail from 2:54 p.m. on July 9. I promise to answer each and every one of them.

I must also thank Sasha Puric who heads up IT for MLSE. This past Thursday he took my mac and worked a little magic so that I could start interacting with you…thanks Sasha. I started responding as a ”hunt and peck” typist and now I’m getting fluid, by the end of the season, I may be like 60 words a minute. Also, yes I’m getting a Blackberry, thanks to the folks at Rogers, it will be my first (my wife is scared because I already have a cell phone hooked to my ear). I’ll get that when I get back to T.O. in late August after Beijing.

The Devlin boys loved their first visit to Toronto! They hit the Science Centre, ROM, Centre Island and the Hockey Hall of Fame where they got their picture taken with the CUP and of course, played the interactive games. I made it to the Science Centre and HHOF, missed the others taking care of some Raptors business and looking for a house. The great thing is, we just scratched the surface, there’s so much to do. The important thing to us, was that the boys enjoyed their time and they really did. Yes...we hit Pizza Pizza, they loved it! (I know after some of your e-mails there are a lot of great pizza places in T.O.). Tim Hortons...they said it was better than Dunkin’ Donuts, you gotta love it, they’re learning quick.

Things you learn after you tell friends your moving to T.O…my son Ian’s friend from St. Patrick’s School here in CLT is related to Canadian Astronaut Chris Hatfield. My neighbour grew up going to Lake Muskoka. My good friend Chris Lynch’s brother-in-law is from the T-dot as he says, my other friend Ed Powell works for a company out of T.O. (no one knew, he’s an international man of intrigue, at least that’s what he thinks). Ed spends most of his time talking about Georgetown, so he’s actually complaining about the Raps getting rid of Roy Hibbert well because he’s a Georgetown guy. Let me see…JO or Roy, come on Ed…and that everyone here in CLT plans on visiting us and they love Toronto! There’s actually more but I won’t bore you.

Some quick hoops thoughts…exchanged e-mails with Mike Dunleavy (worked with him this past playoffs at TNT)…he’s not happy about how the Brand, David Falk deal went down, but he rebounded by getting Marcus Camby just a year removed from being the Defensive Player of the Year and he’s a double –double machine... should be interesting to see him with Baron Davis. A whole new look for the Clippers which isn’t a bad thing.

Spoke to former Raptor Dell Curry this past Friday, we talked about his days in T.O., he and his family loved their time there. His oldest son Steph is a flat out star at Davidson College, he can shoot, handle and he’s a team player and a great kid. Steph just got back from the Nike LeBron James Camp where his team was the only one that beat LeBron’s two times. He was working on playing both the 1 and the 2. Dell’s other son, Seth, is headed to Liberty University to play basketball…

Big money deals for Elton Brand and Gilbert Arenas…what happened to that recession I keep seeing, feeling and hearing about in the States?

Also, I have received tons of suggestions for the name of my blog….in the next week or so I will post them or at least some of them, to get your feedback.

Once again thanks for all the e-mails, it means a lot to me and my family!
