Planes, Trains... and Airports

Annalise

March 5, 2011

I have been finding myself in a familiar place quite often these days: the airport, ever since my move to Toronto last year. Between traveling from Toronto to Halifax and back, along with the occasional family vacation squeezed in, I could easily say I am at the airport for 1/3 of my year! Now, some people may find this observation a bit depressing as well as drab, however I seem to find the airport comforting. Not all of my trips are on good terms and most definitely not at great hours of the day, but after I get through security, get myself a hot tea and settle into my gate... I sit back, relax and look forward to what awaits me in a different time zone.

Perhaps because I am a frequent traveler, I find the airport soothing and a time to chill out, where most people find themselves heaving into a paper bag trying to keep from passing out or having an anxiety attack. Well, my note to those of you who don't find pleasure in travel: don't think about all of the horrible things that could go wrong or that may be going wrong. Delays happen, luggage gets lost, and people are just darn rude! Find it in yourself to stay positive and look towards the light at the end of the tunnel... Your destination!

We're in the 21st century and we can fly through the air to any place we please (expenses permitting) so don't fret my friends, grab a book, or a magazine, a coffee, or a movie -- take a seat and take pride in the fact that we, as humans, can hop into a flying machine, and travel!

Fasten your seatbelts,

- Annalise
