May 10, 2007

(TORONTO) -- The Toronto Raptors announced Thursday forward Chris Bosh was named to the All-NBA Second Team. This is Bosh’s first selection to the All-NBA team. Bosh joins Vince Carter as the only Raptors players to receive the honour. Carter was named to the All-NBA Second Team in 2001 and the Third Team in 2000.

“This is truly a special honour for me,” said Bosh. “It shows that my hard work has paid dividends and that I was surrounded by great teammates.”

Bosh helped lead the Raptors to a franchise record-tying 47 wins, home court in the playoffs and their first Atlantic Division title. He led the team in scoring and rebounding with career bests of 22.6 and 10.7, respectively. Bosh had a team single-season record 42 double-doubles and finished the season as the all-time franchise leader with 119. In February, Bosh was named a starter for the 2007 Eastern Conference All-Star Team for the first time.

Bosh won his first Eastern Conference Player of the Month award after averaging 25.4 points and 9.1 rebounds in January. He also received Eastern Conference Player of the Week honours for the third time in his career averaging a league-high 22.3 points, 14.8 rebounds and 4.0 assists during the week of March 26 – April 1.

Joining Bosh on the All-NBA Second Team are Washington’s Gilbert Arenas and Houston’s Tracy McGrady at guard; Cleveland’s LeBron James at forward, and Houston’s Yao at centre.
