Raptors Forward Chris Bosh Named Eastern Conference Player Of the Week

(April 2, 2007) -- The Toronto Raptors announced Monday that forward Chris Bosh was named NBA Eastern Conference Player of the Week for games played Monday, March 26 through Sunday, April 1. This is the third time Bosh has won the honour, having previously earned the award for the weeks of January 30 - February 5, 2006 and January 3-9, 2005.

Bosh led the Raptors to a 3-1 record and a playoff berth after averaging a league-high 22.3 points, 14.8 rebounds and 4.0 assists. He registered four double-doubles and led the team in scoring twice and rebounds in all four contests. Bosh totaled 15 points and a game-high 11 rebounds in a 95-87 loss to open the week March 26 at Boston. He became Toronto’s all-time career leader in double-doubles (111) with a 13-point, 18-rebound performance in a 96-83 win over Miami on March 28. Bosh scored 37 points, tied for the second highest point total of his career, and grabbed 14 rebounds in a 123-118 overtime victory March 30 at Washington. He finished the week with game highs of 24 points and 16 rebounds in Toronto’s 107-94 April 1 win versus the Charlotte Bobcats.

A product of Georgia Tech in his fourth season, Bosh leads the team in scoring (22.7), rebounding (10.7) and minutes (37.9). Earlier this season Bosh won his first Eastern Conference Player of the Month award after averaging 25.4 points and 9.1 rebounds in January.

This is the sixth award this season for a member of the Raptors organization. In addition to Bosh’s January Eastern Conference Player of the Month award, teammates Andrea Bargnani and Jorge Garbajosa received Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month honours in December (Garbajosa), January (Bargnani) and February (Bargnani). Head coach Sam Mitchell won the Eastern Conference Coach of the Month Award for January.
