(March 21, 2007) -- The Toronto Raptors announced Wednesday that forward Andrea Bargnani underwent successful surgery early this morning for a non-perforated acute appendicitis.

The procedure was performed at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto by Dr. Carol Swallow, with assistance from Raptors assistant team medical director Dr. Howard Petroff.

Bargnani is expected to be released from the hospital in the next few days. Recovery from an appendectomy varies, and no timetable has been set for his return to the lineup.
