Raptors Coaches Go Back To School
November 23, 2011
This month, the Raptors coaching staff, in partnership with the MLSE Community and Sports Partnerships team, took to the road visiting schools and community centres across the GTA to help local youth improve their game.
Head coach Dwane Casey and assistant coaches Johnny Davis, Tom Sterner, Scott Roth, Eric Hughes and Micah Nori shared insightful tips while helping break down basketball fundamentals through Learn to Dribble -- a new Raptors grassroots program launched for the 2011-12 season.
Addressing assemblies of students eager to hear from their new coaches, Casey and his team inspired by tackling not only important topics on the basketball court, but in life as well.
Students also got a first-hand look at what it takes to practice like a Raptors player, as coaches put students' skills to the test in stations focusing on passing, ball handling, shooting, rebounding and defense.
