Game Day: Raptors @ Celtics

Jay Satur - Raptors.com

Key questions as the Raptors face the Celtics at the Cumberland County Civic Center in Portland, Maine (7:30 PM ET) for the second time in three preseason games. No local broadcast or radio for this one, but NBA League Pass subscribers in Canada can watch the game online.

Who Sits Tonight? Expect head coach Dwane Casey to continue to reduce minutes and in some cases, rest players for the entirety of tonight's game. On Monday it was Kyle Lowry and Jonas Valanciunas sitting out and DeMar DeRozan saw just 11 minutes of floor time.

Marcus Smart Said What? If Lowry does get back into the lineup tonight, he'll likely be squaring off against a highly motivated Marcus Smart. The Celtics rookie point guard has evidently been champing at the bit for another opportunity against Lowry, who struck for 18 points, six assists and three rebounds in a Raptors' 116-109 win last Friday.

“I gave Lowry the respect that he deserves instead of just going out there and just playing,” Smart told Marc D'Amico of Celtics.com. “With that being said, he kind of made me take a step back a little bit and not play the way I usually play.”

Just a reminder that including tonight, these teams will meet five more times over the course of the next seven months.

Can The Reserves Get A Little More Cohesive As A Unit? Fewer minutes for the starters should mean increased opportunities for a unit of reserves integrating a couple of new key parts and attempting to establish an identity.

“We're still looking for it to come (together) as a unit,” Casey told the Toronto Sun earlier this week. “We gave up a 40 (point) plus quarter with that second unit (against the Kings). Even though we're picking it up, it's not translating to game situations."

Lou Williams and James Johnson are the newcomers joining Greivis Vasquez, Patrick Patterson and Tyler Hansbrough as pivotal pieces off the pine and will continue to try and get acclimated tonight. Williams, in particular, appears as though he's shaken off the rust. After shooting 10-for-31 from the field during this first three preseason games, he shot six-for-nine against the Knicks in Monday's win on his way to a game-high 21 points in 24 minutes.

Will We See More Bruno? Raptors first-round pick Bruno Caboclo continues to pick up chunks of minutes and display flashes of his intriguing potential. The youngest player in the league played another 13 minutes on Monday and while there's clearly a lot of work to do in terms of his on-court awareness and strength, segments like the one below -- where he uses his incredible length to block a 3-point shot before leaking out for a slam in transition -- show some very real promise.
