Raptors Outlast Spurs To Win Sixth Straight Home Game

On a night where he was celebrated as the franchise's all-time leading scorer, Chris Bosh came up big late on Sunday, hitting two free throws to put the Raptors up by four with 11 seconds left.
Barring that, how about Bosh’s clutch driving lay-up in the lane over Tim Duncan with just under a minute to play in the fourth?

 |
While Bosh has high man on the Raptors for points (22) and rebounds (15), the work of point guard Jarrett Jack can’t be overlooked.
Jack defended Spurs floor general Tony Parker, often without help, and while Parker went nine-for-11, the Raptors sealed him off and limited wingman Richard Jefferson to 12 points. Jack contributed an efficient 15 points on five-for-eight shooting, made all eight of his free throws and ladled out a team-high eight assists.

Playing the second of two consecutive nights, Andrea Bargnani delivered a workmanlike performance against the Spurs.
He scored 15 points (5-16 FGM-A), played more than anyone else in the game (41:31), took down eight rebounds (two offensive) and blocked five shots.

"It was one of those grind them out games. Every possession was a fight and a battle, not like the first time we played them where it was a record for points with 130 and something. I thought we played well. We played aggressive and hard. I don’t think we made as many shots as we normally do, but that is because they are one of the best defensive teams in the NBA."
- Jay Triano on his team's performance. |

GAME NOTES:
The Raptors (17-18) try to claw their way back to the .500 mark. but it certainly won't be easy as they head to Florida for another date with the Magic. Toronto dropped a 118-99 decision to the Magic in Orlando on Dec. 16 with the home side's three-point shooting and a healthy dose of Dwight Howard proving to be too much. But the Raps have won six of seven since then and could have help on the way with Hedo Turkoglu (illness) and Jose Calderon (hip) expected to return.

"I was kind of thinking that it would be really nice to set the record and everything; I wanted to win as well. That was the main focus of the whole day and it made (today) that much better."- Chris Bosh on his record-setting night. |
 |
"Well, he’s played a lot of minutes; he played more than we wanted last night. We just wanted to have him in the fourth quarter rather than the first. Not too much happens in the first quarter of NBA games." - Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich, on his decision to not start Tim Duncan. |
 |
"I know he is going to try and downplay it or give his “no emotion face“. But coming from when we first met each other, nine years ago, just to see him develop into the player, the person, he is now is unbelievable." - Jarrett Jack on Bosh's achievement. |
