It was a very close battle between the two teams, with the Raptors leading for most of the game. The Raptors were able to seal the game after a few defining sequences in the final minute of the 4th quarter.

Andrea Bargnani rimmed out a wide open 3 that would have put the Raps up by 5. But Chris Bosh came up with the huge offensive rebound right after the miss, and laid it in for the hoop to give the Dinos a 4-point lead. After a Hornets timeout, the Raptors were able to trap Chris Paul and force a travel violation. A couple of fouls and free throws later, the game was won by the Raptors.

The Raptors played some solid defence for the second night in a row. After coming up with a couple of poor defensive showings in Miami and Orlando, the Raptors were able to stop any opposing runs that could have swung the momentum into their opponents favor.

Jay Triano utilized his bench very effectively, subbing in his stronger defensive players like Marcus Banks, Sonny Weems and Amir Johnson, whenever the Hornets made a push. The Raptors were able to contain Chris Paul, who shot 3-13 from the field scoring only 10 points for the Hornets.

Marcus Banks and Sonny Weems gave the Raptors some very solid minutes off the bench. Weems played a season-high 30 minutes, giving his team the energy they needed at crucial points in the game.

With Jose Calderon out with a hip injury, Banks has provided some steady minutes off the bench as the backup point guard, and today, he showed how effective he can be. He was a key figure in neutralizing the effectiveness of Chris Paul. Banks used his size and strength to overmatch the All-Star point guard, who was forced to commit an uncharacteristic 5 turnovers.

The toughness and grit the Raptors showed on the defensive end against the Hornets was also reflected on the stats sheet. The Hornets shot only 39% from the field, and was a pathetic 3 for 21 from beyond the arc with 6 of those misses by small forward Peja Stojakovic.

The Raptors improved to an NBA-best 10-0 when holding an opponent to under 100 points and 7-0 when opponents shot under 40 percent.

"(Paul) is one of the best, if not the best, point guards in the league. Being able to contain him is very important because he can really get it going. I think the last game he had like 30 points, 19 assists and 9 rebounds, so he can dominate a game and really control it and he does a good job of doing that. We have to give credit to our guards, they played a good game and we tried to help them as much as possible when we had the chance."

- Chris Bosh on the importance of containing Chris Paul.

I thought guys followed the game plan and everyone was active."- Jarrett Jack on the defensive effort the last two games.
Chris Bosh "I think its always fun when you get a chance to play with guys like that, so I hope they have fun playing with me too." - Chris Bosh, on playing with energy players like Weems, DeRozan and Johnson.

We struggled getting a lot of things established inside to go along with that. Thats why we shot a low percentage from the field. " - Jeff Bower on the Raptors doing a good job trapping Chris Paul.
