The Halfway Mark

Jan. 31, 2011

We are now roughly half way through our 2010/2011 season, and I feel it’s time to share some of my thoughts about being a part of the Raptors Dance Pak for my first season.

I’ve realized a number of things over the last few months, the first being that this job is so much more than a job. It means that many of us, who are pursuing other careers and areas of study, can hold onto our passion for dance. For many dancers, I think that moving on can be a difficult transition, one I having been diligently avoiding for a few years now. The fact that I am able to continue to perform so often, and in such an outstanding environment means the world to me and makes this the best job ever!

Staying Warm In Erie…

A shoutout to Canada Goose for keeping the Dance Pak warm this winter, especially during our recent trip to Erie for the BayHawks game!

Just A Few Words Of Thanks…

Jan. 26, 2011

Ladies and Gents of Raptorland,

As FAN NIGHT approaches (FRIDAY!!), I wanted take a minute to give thanks to the people that really make all this magic happen… the FANS.

Truth be told, without fans (aka YOU), what is there?

Well... Not much, but silence and an empty Air Canada Centre! So I wanted to shout out to the people who have truly made my experience as a Raptors Dancer special.

New Year's Resolutions

Jan. 25, 2011

What is the meaning of determination? Not the Webster’s dictionary meaning, but how would you personally define the word?

In September, I started at a new job as a fitness instructor for a lunch-time fitness program. The program focuses on teaching children character development and getting them interested in personal health and fitness. As a fitness instructor, my goal is to get the kids energized and ready to learn some cool karate moves, but more importantly, my objective is to teach them focus, discipline, and respect for themselves and others. What I did not expect is that I would also take away some valuable lessons about my own personal growth and development.

Am I A Cheerleader?

January 24, 2011

"Are you the cheerleaders?". We must each hear this question about ten times a game, yet somehow it remains hard to answer. Technically we are not cheerleaders. We have no pom poms and perform no cheers. We don't throw each other in the air every game, nor do we make human pyramids. Really, technically, we are a professional dance team.

However, we do a lot more than just dance. We spend a lot of time during the game helping with other forms of in-game entertainment besides dancing. We help with contests, prize giveaways and more. We hang out and talk with fans and we help get the crowd hyped up at games. All of these things are pretty typically expected from the cheerleaders, so it's no wonder people are confused! Basically since the Toronto Raptors have no cheerleaders per say, we fill that role.
