Curry To Hold Kids Camp

(June 7, 2002) --- Raptors guard Dell Curry will be hosting his basketball camp for youth ages 8-16 in Charlotte, North Carolina from August 5-9, 2002. The camp will take place at the Charlotte Sports Center located at 8626 Hankins Road from 8:30 am 4:00 pm each day.

This Dell Curry Foundation Fundamentals Basketball Camp will focus on, and bring youth, Back to the Basic FUNdamentals of the game. Curry will devote an entire week towards introducing, teaching and enhancing the basic fundamental skills level of all in attendance. The camp will stress the importance and proper techniques for conditioning, defence, ballhandling, passing, rebounding and, of course, shooting, Curry's specialty.

Each day the camp will also feature a special basketball friend of Dells. Week-long guests will include past and present NBA players David Wesley, George Lynch and Hersey Hawkins, along with WNBA all-star Andrea Stinson.

This camp is a very intense week of high-level basketball instruction," said Curry. "Campers will be challenged each day to increase their fundamental basketball knowledge and will come away from this camp skilled not just with the proper techniques, but also a better understanding of why and when to use these skills."

All proceeds raised from this basketball camp will go towards benefiting the Dell Curry Foundations mission of providing educational assistance for youth that are housed within low-income communities.

Thus far, the Dell Curry Foundation has opened and is maintaining two Dell Curry Youth After-School Educational Computer Learning Centers located in the Belvedere Homes community at the Salvation Army-West Trade Street Boys & Girls Club and in the Hidden Valley community at the Precious Ones After-School Academy. Plans are underway for the Dell Curry Foundation to open two additional Youth After-School Educational Computer Learning Centers this year in June and September.
