1. Dress Code
The NBA has instituted a new dress code, requiring players to wear business casual attire "whenever they are engaged in team or league business." No more throwbacks. No more hats. No more baggy jeans. No more big chains worn over clothing. This could open up some new endorsement opportunities for enterprising players.

2. Roster Rules
The injured list has been replaced with the inactive list. There will be no more wink-wink injuries. Teams will still have 12 players active, but there is no minimum time spent on the inactive list, so it can be changed for every game. The maximum total players on the team remains at 15.

3. D-League
NBA teams can now send young players to the NBA Development League for seasoning. This will give rookies and second-year players who aren't playing much with their team to see more playing time at the D-League level. Each D-League team is affiliated with three or four NBA teams.

5. Coaches
Ten teams changed coaches this summer. The biggest names were Phil Jackson (Lakers) and Larry Brown (Knicks), but Maurice Cheeks (Sixers), Bob Weiss (Sonics) and Flip Saunders (Pistons) will bring new looks to teams that made the playoffs last season. Elsewhere, Terry Stotts (Bucks), Nate McMillan (Blazers), Dwayne Casey (Timberwolves), Mike Brown (Cavaliers) and Brian Hill (Magic) will try to improve teams that struggled in '04-05.

6. Rookies
This may be the most wide-open race for Rookie of the Year in recent memory. The rookie with the biggest buzz in the preseason (Danny Granger) was picked at No. 17, and even a couple of second-rounders have impressed so far. Stay tuned for the premier of our weekly Rookie Rankings which will give you the scoop on all of the rookies throughout the season.

7. Faces in New Places
Ray Allen and Michael Redd were the biggest names on the market and they each stayed home, but there were still some quality players that changed teams this summer, either through free agency or through trades. Ironically, two of the teams that changed the most (Miami and Phoenix) are the ones who had the best record in their respective conferences last season.

9. Uniforms
The Pacers have unveiled an entirely new look and the Celtics, Cavaliers, Nuggets, Pistons and Kings will debut new alternate uniforms this season. Anticipate some new Hardwood Classics looks as well, including the Heat honoring the old Miami Floridians ABA franchise.

10. New Looks
Pau Gasol's is looking pretty grizzly with his beard. Tim Duncan still has far to go to catch up to vintage Dr. J. Jason Collins tried the braids for a while, but seems to have settled with the cornrows. A new season means new looks for several players.
