TNT's analysts weigh in on the 2004-05 season
Let the Truth Be Told: Charles' New Year's Resolutions
If you want the truth about this upcoming NBA season, who better to "Let the Truth Be Told" than the esteemed analysts at TNT? We caught up with studio host Ernie Johnson, analysts Kenny Smith, Steve Kerr and Barkley and TNT's No. 1 play-by-play man, Marv Albert to get the skinny on 2004-05. From Shaq to 'Sheed, from LeBron to the unsung offseason acquisition, there isn't a topic from which the TNT guys shied away.
What should Charles' New Year's (basketball) resolution be?
Ernie Johnson, Inside the NBA host
"Man, this is good. More analysis, fewer Krispy Kremes."

Steve Kerr, TNT game analyst
"I think he should resolve not to punch anyone in a bar this year."

Kenny Smith, Inside the NBA analyst
"His?" (Silence for about 20 seconds...) "'This year I will speak last.'"

Marv Albert, TNT play-by-play
"If you were asking about the Czar, that would be different. And now Charles looks so good, so there's nothing to say there. I think with Charles, when they shoot around in the studio, he's got to work on that outside touch. You just can't walk in. He should know that. He has to get in early, pull a Larry Bird, get there three or four hours before the game when Boston Garden was dark. I'd like to see Charles do that. I was disappointed last year in Charles. I thought he would do better."

Charles Barkley, Inside the NBA analyst
"My resolution is: I'm hoping those boys learned their lesson over in Athens. I'm hoping that's a wakeup call for them to learn how to play the game. They have to add diversity to their game.
"There's nothing wrong with the selection committee. You all are always making excuses for [the players]. We had enough talent to win over there. The thing they have to understand is that you have to have diversity to your game, because what happens is anyone can be a great player if they give you the ball every time. Some of those guys don't understand what to do when they don't get the ball. You have to help your teammates by doing other stuff to help your team win and that's what happened over there. They were standing around. Anyone can be a star if you get the ball 50 times a game."
