Jazz forward discusses playing next to Duncan, playing for Brown
Boozer Ready to Bring It

By Rob Peterson

July 27 -- In the span of two years, Carlos Boozer has gone from second-round afterthought to one of the game's premier power forwards. As the U.S. gears up for its pre-Olympic tour, NBA.com talked to the Jazz forward about what playing in Athens means to him.

How does it feel to be an Olympian?
Boozer: "It's a big honor. For most players, it's a once in a lifetime opportunity. I'm looking forward to going over there and bringing home a gold medal. It's a great group of guys, really young and talented. Hopefully, we'll be competitive and bring home the gold."

Boozer feels the USA will be OK, as long as they listen to Larry Brown.

Is there one player you're most looking forward to playing with?
Boozer: "I'm looking forward to playing with all of them, but I think the most would be Tim Duncan because he's one of the best power forwards in the league and I have the opportunity to learn as much as I can from him before the regular season starts."

Was it your dream to play in the Olympics?
Boozer: "I think everybody has that goal; especially after watching the '92 Dream Team, I think everybody wanted to be on a team like that. This is my opportunity and I wasn't going to pass it up."

Do you have a favorite Olympic memory?
Boozer: "That whole experience of '92 is what I remember most. We all got an opportunity to follow those guys and there was great media coverage of it all. To see them standing up on the podium at the end, getting their gold medals ... just the whole experience. And it seems we got to experience it with them from afar."

What made that team special and can this team be special?
Boozer: "They left the ego and the selfishness at the door. And I think we have to do that too. I think everyone on the team is a good individual player and we have some guys who can go off by themselves and have huge nights. But I think if we go by the concepts Larry Brown will have for us -- moving without the ball, passing -- I think we have a great chance to win the whole thing."
