EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ, May 12, 2007 -- To do something that only four other basketball players have done before is a special feat. To do it a second time is no less impressive.
Jason Kidd has now averaged a triple-double in a playoff series twice in his 13-year career.
Before Kidd did it for the second time in the First Round against Toronto, only Hall of Famers Wilt Chamberlain (twice) and Magic Johnson (four times) had averaged a triple-double in a series more than once. In fact, the feat has only been pulled off ten times, and Kidd is the only one to have done it since 1991.
With his 11th postseason triple-double on Saturday, Kidd moved ahead of Larry Bird for second on the All-Time playoff triple-doubles list. Only Johnson has more. He is also averaging a triple-double (12.3 points, 11.0 rebounds and 10.3 assists) for the series through three games.
The following is the list of players who have averaged a triple-double in a playoff series, according to the Elias Sports Bureau. Only once (Oscar Robertson's '62 Cincinnati Royals) has a team lost a series in which their player accomplished the feat.
