A crucial basket by Tim Duncan helped hold off a furious Phoenix rally as the visiting Spurs wrapped up the Western Conference Finals on Wednesday with a
101-95 Game 5 victory. San Antonio advances to the The Finals and will take on the winner of the Heat-Pistons series. Duncan’s tap-in with 2:12 left made the score 95-90. An 18-4 run in the third period gave the Spurs a 69-56 lead before the Suns cut the deficit to three on Jim Jackson’s 3-pointer with 2:45 left. Duncan had 31 points to go with 15 rebounds and Manu Ginobili posted 19 points. Amaré Stoudemire scored 17 of his game-high 42 points in the fourth.
