X-Factor: Kidd Finds the Touch
Kidd
"We never base Jason's game on scoring." Those were the words of Nets coach Lawrence Frank after Tuesday's Game 4 of the East semifinals, but Jason Kidd's hot shooting was precisely what enabled New Jersey to pull away to a 94-79 victory over Detroit. Kidd tallied 22 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds, made 8-of-15 from the field and scored 13 in the pivotal 30-16 third quarter. If the Nets don't base Kidd's game on points, then a continued surge in that column could well be the key that unlocks this 2-2 series.
Kobe Bryant, L.A. VGM value: 21.5 Tuesday: Bryant scored 42 points, the most in NBA Playoffs 2004, and posted an efficiency rating of plus-42 in a 98-90 Game 4 win over the Spurs.
