"Haiku" (pronounced HIE-koo), is defined as a style of Japanese poetry that features three unrhymed lines of 5, 7, and 5 syllables. In modern times, it's often defined as one more thing you learned in school that has no practical value in the real world...until now.
In the interest of promoting higher learning and creativity, the NBA is borrowing a page from the Milwaukee Bucks and inviting you to submit your own haiku, paying homage to your favorite NBA team bound for the playoffs. Traditionally, haikus invoke an aspect of nature or the seasons, but with the 2003 NBA Playoffs less than a week away, we are hoping you are inspired to write one about your favorite player or teams bound for the postseason!
Sample:
Ray Allen jumper
Money ball; nothing but net
Three-point champion
We will merely groan and delete your worst entries. However, those haikus submitted by truly inspired fans will be published in the special 2003 NBA .com Playoff Section, so send in your submissions.
