In the deciding game, Kidd shook off a fourth-quarter ankle injury to finish with 26 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists in New Jersey's 102-82 victory.
"I stepped on somebody's foot, and I just twisted it," Kidd said. "It got my heart pumping faster. Once I knew I could stand up, I was all right."
With three minutes to play and New Jersey leading by 21 points, Kidd left to a standing ovation and a hug from Martin -- and more chants of "M-V-P!"

Returning home for Game 3, Kidd scored a playoff-career high 34 points on 11-of-21 shooting from the field and added 12 rebounds and six assists as the Nets beat the Pistons 97-85. He also was a catalyst on the break, helping the Nets score 32 points in transition and the Pistons could not keep up.
"I just saw a guy that wanted to win the game," Nets coach Byron Scott said after Game 3. "He was able to get to the basket pretty easy. He did a great job of attacking."
