When all was said and done in 1995, the Rockets had the last word. "Never underestimate the heart of a champion," coach Rudy Tomjanovich famously said after title number two.
Everyone underestimated Houston. And why not? The Rockets entered the playoffs as the sixth seed. They were down 2-1 in the opening round, before going on to defeat Utah. Then, in the conference semifinals, the Rockets found themselves down 3-1 to Phoenix and two of the final three games were in the Valley of the Sun.
The Rockets stunned the basketball world by winning the next three, including the series clincher in Phoenix. After falling behind by 10 in the first half, the Rockets shot 72 percent in the second half. With the game tied at 110, the Rockets found Elie alone in the left corner. Elie swished the three, blew a kiss to the Suns bench and the Rockets never looked back.
