Porter: "I liked the short shorts. I didn't like the long ones. I was never a believer of the long long baggy ones. I just came up that way. I came up old-school. I wasn't one who was really quick, so the less material, the better. ... I always root against the Lakers. They've been the one constant thorn in my dream of a championship. Over 2-3 decades of basketball, they've always stood in my way in the West. They were a big rivalry of ours when I was in Portland. They were the team to beat. We didn't fear them, though. We wanted what they had. ... (Current Kings coach) Rick Adelman was the coach in Portland for much of my time there. He was an assistant at first, so we spent a lot of time in the summer on consistency and extending my range. Our bond started there, and then when he went from assistant to head coach, it continued. He used to be a point guard too, so we discussed the position a lot. ... As for our current Kings squad, I like our chances against the Lakers. When you go against the defending champs, confidence is the biggest hurdle, and I don't think we have that hurdle this year. I think the guys have enough confidence, and they feel they can beat the Lakers. Fearing them is gone."
