Selected by Sacramento as an undergraduate (junior) out of Kansas with the fifth overall pick in the 2012 NBA Draft ... Signed a multi-year contract with Sacramento (7/9/12).


SACRAMENTO KINGS

Only the second player to be selected out of Kansas by the Kings in the Sacramento era, joining Ryan Robertson who was drafted in the second round of the 1999 NBA Draft ... In Kings franchise history, is only the third player from Kansas to ever be selected by the Kings (Carl Henry, 4th round of the 1984 Draft) ... Averaged 13.0 ppg (.344 FG%, .538 FT%), a team-high 9.8 rpg, 3.0 apg, 1.0 spg, and 29.6 mpg in starting all five games for the Kings during the 2012 NBA Summer League in Las Vegas ... Scored in double-figures in three games ... Recorded two double-doubles ... Tallied 15 points (6-14 FG, 3-6 FT), a game-high 16 rebounds to go along with three assists and one block in 32 minutes in the 91-82 win vs. Boston (7/19/12) ... As a junior, was named 2012 Big 12 Player of the Year and Consensus NCAA All-American First Team (Wooden, NABC, CBS Sports, USBWA, ESPN, Sporting News) after averaging a career-best 17.7 ppg (.505 FG%, .682 FT%), 11.9 rpg, 1.8 apg, 1.1 spg, and 31.8 mpg in 39 appearances while leading the Jayhawks in scoring and rebounds ... Became the first unanimous AP First Team All-American since Blake Griffin in 2009 ... Recorded 27 double-doubles to lead the nation and surpass Drew Gooden's Kansas single-season record of 25 set in 2002 ... Ranked second nationally in rebounding in 2011-12 ... Scored in double-figures in 38 of 39 games, reaching the 20-point plateau 11 times and once scoring 30 points ... Tallied 30 points (10-14 FG, 1-2 3pt, 9-12 FT), 21 rebounds, four assists, two steals and one block versus North Dakota (12/31/11), becoming the first Jayhawk to score at least 30 points and grab 20 or more rebounds since Wayne Hightower accomplished the feat with 36 points and 21 rebounds against Missouri (2/13/61) ... Just the sixth player in Big 12 history to achieve a 30-20 game on a list that includes Kevin Durant, Michael Beasley and Blake Griffin ... His 463 rebounds on the year were second only in Kansas history to Wilt Chamberlain's 510 boards in 1956-57 ... His overall three-year Kansas record of 100-13 are the most wins in a three-year period in Kansas basketball history ... Averaged 7.6 ppg (.601 FG%, .510 FT%), 6.4 rpg, 0.6 apg, and 14.6 mpg in 33 games (started 2) as a sophomore in 2010-11 ... Recorded four double-doubles ... A native of Washington, D.C. ... Prepped at Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, N.H, where he earned first team prep school All-American and Parade All-American honors ... Averaged 16 points and 13 rebounds and five blocks per game in 2008-09 for Brewster ... Played his junior season at Riverdale Baptist High School in Upper Marlboro, Md., recording 23 double-doubles that season ... Was rated the No. 7 power forward in the class of 2009 by Rivals.com ...
