Del Negro led the team in scoring four times, including back-to-back contests on February 18 (31 points) and February 21 (23 points). Del Negro's postseason performance was uneven. He wasn't much of a factor in the conference semifinals against the Los Angeles Lakers, nor in the two opening losses to the Houston Rockets in the conference finals, but he was instrumental in the Spurs' wins in Game 3 and Game 4 against the Rockets. In Game 3 he scored 19 points and ran the team's pick-and-roll offense in the second half. The Spurs eventually lost the series in six games. Del Negro averaged 8.7 points in the playoffs, shooting .432 from the field, .450 from three-point distance, and .833 from the line.

1993-94:
With the departure of Avery Johnson to free agency, Del Negro became the San Antonio Spurs' starting point guard for much of the 1993-94 season. Del Negro finished the year with averages of 10.0 points and 4.2 assists per game. ... The San Antonio Spurs brought Del Negro back to the NBA when they signed him as a free agent in summer 1992.
