Born Jan. 11, 1982 in Chicago… Full name is Anthony Allen… Son of Ella Allen… Married to wife Desiree… Has two sisters, Ebony and Dominique, and a brother, Ryan, who played on the Grizzlies’ 2012 summer league squad following a four-year collegiate career at Wisconsin-Milwaukee… Attended Crane High School in Chicago and played alongside Detroit Pistons guard Will Bynum, whom he would play against when Oklahoma State met Georgia Tech in the 2004 NCAA Final Four… Hosts annual “Grit & Grind Basketball Academy,” a free summer basketball clinic for boys and girls, during offseasons in Memphis… Remains close friends Glynn Cyprien, who served as an assistant coach during his career at Oklahoma State... Enjoys listening to music in his spare time. Grizz Nation gave Allen the nickname, 'The Grindfather' due to his self-proclaimed all-heart, grit and grind work ethic both on and off the court.
