BACKGROUND

Todd Fuller, who led the Atlantic Coast Conference in scoring (20.9 ppg) and was second in rebounding (9.9 rpg) as a senior at North Carolina State, was drafted on the first round by Golden State in 1996 and saw action in 75 games as a rookie, making 18 starts. After one more season with the Warriors he was traded to the Utah Jazz, for whom he played one season before moving on to the Charlotte Hornets, for whom he appeared in 41 games in the 1999-2000 campaign. Fuller was named the 1996 Scholar-Athlete of the Year after posting a GPA of 3.97 and was a 1995 first-team CoSIDA Academic All-American. He went up the ladder each year in the Atlantic Coast Conference: third team all-ACC as a sophomore, second team as a junior and unanimous first-team pick as a senior. He ranks ninth on the Wolfpack's all-time scoring list with 1,585 career points, fifth in career rebounds (887), third in blocked shots (147) and eighth in free throws made (400) and free throw percentage (.800). Fuller was drafted on the first round by the Warriors, the 11th player chosen overall. He averaged 4.1 points and 3.3 rebounds in 12.7 minutes per game as a rookie, making 18 starts in his 75 games played. In 1997-98 he averaged 4.0 points and 3.4 rebounds in 10.8 minutes per game in 57 appearances. He was traded to Utah on February 4, 1999 for a second-round draft choice and played in 42 games for the Jazz in 1998-99 as a backup center behind Greg Ostertag. He averaged 3.4 points and 2.4 rebounds in 11.0 minutes per game. Signed as a free agent by the Charlotte Hornets during the 1999 offseason, Fuller played in 41 games for the Hornets, making two starts. He averaged 3.3 points and 2.7 rebounds in 9.7 minutes per game.

1996-1997 REGULAR SEASON
Fuller played in 75 games as a rookie, sitting out seven games due to coach's decision. He was the only Golden State player who was in uniform for all of the team's 82 games. He started the first six games of the season, averaging 10.0 points and 6.0 rebounds, and started 18 games overall. And he finished the season on a positive note, averaging 12.5 points and 10.0 rebounds in 24.5 minutes per game over the final four games of the season, shooting .567 from the field in those games. For the season he averaged 4.1 points and 3.3 rebounds in 12.5 minutes per game, scoring a season-high 18 points, including 10-for-10 from the free throw line, in a 117-108 win at New Jersey on Feb. 28. He grabbed a season-high 13 rebounds and scored 10 points in a 97-87 loss at Sacramento on April 11. Fuller's 108 offensive rebounds ranked fourth on the team.
