2009-10
A starter in 23 of the season's first 24 games, he played in each of the first 31 games, extending his streak of games played to 54 in a row…in those 31 games, he averaged 9.9 ppg and 3.6 apg, which was best on the team…in those first 31 games, he scored in double figures 17 times with a high of 18 points in a win over Washington, 11/6…after a loss at home to Memphis, 12/30, it would be more than a month before he would play again, drawing 15 DNP-CDs and being on the inactive list for four more games, all due to coaching decisions…in his next four appearances (2/5-2/17), he would average 13.5 ppg and shoot 23-36 from the floor, including 4-7 3-pt FGS…that four-game splurge included his first 20-point game of the season against Milwaukee…against the Bucks, he shot 8-11 from the floor, made both of his 3-pt attempts and both of his free throws…in his hometown of Houston, he came off the bench to score a season-high 23 points to help lead the Pacers to a 125-115 win over the Rockets, 2/20…that was the first of four straight games in double figures, which was his second longest streak of the season, and his longest since six in a row in December… in those four straight games in February, he averaged 17.0 ppg…in scoring 17 points vs. Milwaukee, 2/25, he shot 11-12 FTS and that was his only game of the season with 10 or more free throw attempts…one of just two Pacers' players this season to have 10 or more assists in a game, his 13 assists vs. Charlotte, 12/16, were the most by any member of the team in 2009-10 and they matched his most ever in a Pacers' uniform…he added 15 points against the Bobcats for his only points/assists double-double of the season…prior to that he had recorded 10 rebounds and 18 points in a win over Washington, 11/6, for his first double-double of the campaign…10 rebounds are his most ever with Indiana…he got off to a very slow start, scoring a total of 10 points in the first two games on 3-17 FGS (.176)…in his remaining 37 appearances he shot 183-401 FGS (.456) and tallied 12.8 ppg…through the end of December he had made just one 3-pt field goal on 28 attempts…in his remaining 16 appearances, he was 8-22 from beyond the 3-pt arc…in his his first four NBA seasons he blocked a total of 27 shots and never had more than nine in any one of those seasons…he has rejected 26 shots in his two campaigns with the Pacers, including his 10 in 2009-10…he tied a career-high with two blocks against the team with which he started his career, the Milwaukee Bucks…that was one of three games in seven seasons in which he has rejected multiple shots…through the season's first 31 games, he was third on the team with 23 steals, including a season-high three vs. New Jersey, 12/11…he would have another game with three steals--at Denver, 3/5, and wound up with 44 thefts, fifth best on the team…he injured his groin and played just four minutes against the Celtics, 3/12…that would be his last appearance of the season.
2008-09
In addition to a career-high 14.9 ppg, he led the Pacers with 392 assists (5.3 apg) and 89 steals (1.20 spg)…he scored in double figures in 59 of his 74 appearances, including a season-high nine straight games to start the season…one of only three Indiana players to score 30+ points in 2008-09, he tallied a career-high 36 points in the Pacers' loss to the New York Knicks, 1/31…that was the second of his two 30-point games in 2008-09, both of which came in the last three games of January…he had tied a career-high with 34 points in the Pacers' win over Milwaukee, 1/28…in all, he scored 20 or more points 21 times…through his first 37 appearances he was shooting a season-low 42.5 percent (182-428) from the floor…but, in his last 37 games, he shot 231-485 (.476)…though he shot just over 81 percent from the line over the season's final 50 games (45 appearances), he ranked among the league's top 15 (14th) free throw shooters with a mark of 87.2 percent for the season…he was among the NBA's top five foul shooters through 32 games, having shot 98-105 FTS (.933)…his 35-104 from 3-pt range (.337) mirrored his best season from behind the arc of 2005-06…he ranked 19th in the league with an average of 5.3 rpg that led the Pacers…however, that was his lowest average in six NBA campaigns…until the final game of the season, he had been the only Indiana player to hand out 10+ assists in 2008-09, and he did so five times…he passed out a season-high 13 assists in the Pacers' win vs. Milwaukee, 2/11…he had four double-doubles…his two assists in the win vs. Memphis, 2/25, gave him 2,000 in his NBA career…after a season-long, four-game stretch in late March in which he had no steals, he claimed at least one theft in each of the season's final nine games and averaged 2.22 spg in those contests…he scored the game-winning points twice, hitting a short jumper at the buzzer in a 95-94 win at Philadelphia, 12/20, and then connecting on a high-arcing jumper over the outstretched hand of Chicago's Derrick Rose for a 107-105 win at Conseco Fieldhouse…he started each of the season's first 24 games, then missed seven of 14 games from the middle of December to the middle of January…overall, he missed eight games--five due to injury or illness and three due to coaching decisions…after sitting out the game in Utah, 1/12, he missed just one of the last 44 games…he started a total of 49 games, averaging 15.7 ppg with 5.5 apg and 3.8 rpg in 32.2 mpg…in 25 games off the bench, he averaged 13.4 ppg, 2.9 rpg and 5.0 apg in 27.2 ppg…his 23 points vs. the Pistons, 1/14, were the most scored by any Indiana reserve this season…he came off the bench in each of the season's final 12 games, averaging 13.4 ppg and shooting 54 percent from the floor (67-124).
