BACKGROUND

Tim Breaux left his home of Zachary, Louisiana, to enjoy a fine college career at Wyoming and then land a spot in the NBA after one year each in Europe and the Continental Basketball Association. In his four years at Wyoming, Breaux averaged 12.5 points and 4.1 rebounds and finished his college career in 1992 ranked ninth on the school's all-time scoring list. The 6-7 swingman recorded a .464 career field goal percentage for the Cowboys, starting in 103 of his 120 games. As a senior, he averaged 16.4 points and 4.5 rebounds and reached double figures in points in 26 of 28 outings. Passed over in the 1992 NBA Draft, Breaux migrated further north to join the Continental Basketball Association's Sioux Falls SkyForce. He started 23 of 50 games for the SkyForce in 1992-93, averaging 13.7 points and earning a berth on the CBA All-Rookie Second Team. Breaux spent the 1993-94 season in Europe, playing for two teams in two different countries. He began the year with Tours Basket of the French League, averaging 14.0 points in the team's first five games, but in November Breaux jumped to the Spanish League, finishing out the year with Pamesa Valencia. In 18 games with Pamesa, he averaged 13.3 points and shot .346 (18-of-52) from three-point range. In summer 1994 the NBA-champion Houston Rockets signed Breaux to a free-agent contract. Breaux made the opening-day roster and remained on the team throughout the 1994-95 season, serving as a versatile reserve. He picked up a couple of starting assignments when Vernon Maxwell was suspended and Clyde Drexler had yet to join the team after his acquisition from the Portland Trail Blazers. The Rockets went 2-0 in those games. He appeared in 54 games for the Rockets in 1995-96, all but four of them in a reserve role, and averaged 3.0 points and 1.1 rebounds in limited action.

1995-1996 REGULAR SEASON
Breaux played in 54 games in his second season in a Rockets uniform. He averaged 3.0 points and 1.1 rebounds in 10.6 minutes per game and drew four starting assignments. He also spent two five-game stints on the injured list. He scored in double figures four times, netting a career-high 17 points against Atlanta on March 14 when he shot 7-for-8 from the field including 3-for-4 from three-point range. He also posted a double-double of 12 points and a career-high 11 rebounds against Golden State on March 19. Breaux was not on Houston's playoff roster.

1994-1995 REGULAR SEASON
Breaux finally earned his shot in the NBA after a year in the Continental Basketball Association and a year in Europe. Signed as a free agent by Houston in the 1994 offseason, he remained on the Rockets' roster for the entire year. Breaux saw action in 42 games, including 2 starts, averaging 3.0 points and 0.8 rebounds in 8.1 minutes per contest. He notched a season-high 12 points twice: in his first start, on February 14 against the Los Angeles Clippers, and on November 23 against the Orlando Magic. He shot .372 from the field and .240 from three-point range. Houston placed Breaux on the injured list with a lower back strain on April 1, and he missed the Rockets' postseason run to their second straight NBA Championship.
