| His name is shared in China by a female pop music singer and with a 6-foot-3 former female Chinese volleyball Olympian who now plays professionally in Italy . His team, Beijing Aoshen Olympian, was the only privately owned basketball team in China with the owner hiring players to practice against the team so his players could improve . In 2004, Sun was the first player from Aoshen to be selected to play for China's Under 20 team, but the club refused to release him for national team duty, resulting in the Chinese Basketball Association banning Beijing from playing in the men's league, citing a previous written agreement, and suspended Aoshen for the 2004-05 CBA season . The team’s owner subsequently moved the team to Los Angeles to compete in the American Basketball Association with Sun ultimately gaining his release to play for the National Team as well . In a 2006 warm-up match between China and the Team USA, blocked Carmelo Anthony’s dunk while in the 2008 Beijing Olympics, blocked a Dwight Howard dunk attempt. | ||
