Averaged 6.8 ppg, 1.9 rpg and 17.9 mpg in 69 games. Finished third in the NBA in three-point field goal shooting percentage with a mark of 45.9% (61-133). Third on the team in assists with 190. Started in six games. Scored in double-figures in 16 games and scored 20 or more points in one game (21 at Boston on 2/26). Led or co-led the team in scoring in four games, in rebounding in one game and in assists in seven games. Hit game-winning shot as time expired in overtime to lift the Sonics to a 101-99 victory over Cleveland at Gund Arena on 3/1. Did not play due to coach's decision in 13 games. Was the only Sonic player to not miss a game due to injury.

1999-2000:
Williams played in 43 games for the Sonics, starting the final five games of the season. He averaged 5.2 points, 1.8 assists and 1.2 rebounds in 12.0 minutes per game and shot .373 from the field, .296 from three-point range and .647 from the free throw line. His 24 three-pointers tied for sixth on the team.

He was on the injured list twice because of a partially torn ligament in his right thumb, missing a total of 23 games. He did not play due to coach's decision 16 times.

In the last eight games of the season, he averaged 12.5 points and 4.4 assists in 23.5 minutes per game and posted career-highs of 28 points and six rebounds at the Lakers on April 10 and 10 assists against the Clippers in the season finale on April 19. He also had 17 points in that game for his first career double-double. He scored in double figures nine times, four of them coming in the last eight games of the season and the other five in a 10-game stretch Jan. 24-Feb. 15.

He had a solid playoff series, appearing in all five games and making two starts against Utah. He averaged 10.2 points, 3.6 assists, 2.2 rebounds and 1.60 steals in 19.8 minutes per game and shot .545 from the field, .636 (7-for-11) on three-pointers and .727 from the free throw line. Besides leading the team in three-point accuracy, he was second in assists and field goal percentage, tied for second in steals and fourth in scoring. He scored 23 points in Game 1 on April 22 and had 15 points, 10 assists, six rebounds and four steals in Game 2 on April 24.

1998-99:
Waived by the Hawks on 2/19. Made his NBA debut in a 100-83 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers on 2/5.

COLLEGE:
Williams played four seasons at North Carolina, averaging 14.1 points and 4.4 assists per game as a junior and 16.8 points and 4.2 assists per game as a senior, when he was named to the All-ACC Second Team and an honorable mention All-American by AP. Finished collegiate career at North Carolina holding records for most career three-pointers (233) and most made in a season (95).
