Background

Despite a college career that was hampered by assorted injuries, Randy Livingston made it to the NBA as a second-round draft pick of the Houston Rockets in 1996-97 and appeared in 64 games as a rookie as the team reached the Western Conference Finals. He played in the CBA for most of the next two seasons, appearing in 12 games for the Atlanta Hawks in 1997-98 and one game for the Phoenix Suns in 1998-99. 2004-05:
Signed by the Jazz on March 2, 2005 and saw action in 17 games with 4 starts… scored 3.8 points, while shooting .423 percent from the field and .882 from the line (15-17 FTs)…scored a season-high 13 points at LAC on April 12, 2005, hitting, 3-5 FGs (2-2 three-pointers) and 5-5 from the line in one of his four starts… tied his career-high with 7 assists twice, including at New Orleans on April 8, 2005 and at Minnesota on April 6, 2005… had a season-high 2 steals twice and played a season-high 29 minutes vs. Denver on March 30, 2005.

1996-97
Despite his abbreviated college career, Livingston won a place on Houston's roster and appeared in 64 games as a rookie, missing seven because of tendinitis in his right knee, five because of back spasms and six as a DNP-CD. His 64 games played were more than double his college career total of 29. Livingston aveaged 3.9 points, 2.4 assists and 1.5 rebounds in 15.3 minutes per game. He scored in double figures five times, topped by a career-high 12 points twice--at New York on Feb. 4 and against Dallas on March 1. He had career highs of seven assists and five rebounds, plus six points, in a 115-96 win over Detroit on Dec. 12. He played in two playoff games for Houston, scoring three points and handing out four assists in a total of 15 minutes.
