DRAFTED:
Selected by the Kings in the first round (23rd overall pick) of the 2009 NBA Draft.


HOW ACQUIRED: Acquired in a trade from the Sacramento Kings on June 30, 2011 along with Sacramento’s first round pick (protected) in the 2012 NBA Draft in exchange for J.J. Hickson.


2011-12 SEASON:
Played in 65 games (35 starts)…averaged 7.1 points on .403 shooting, 3.5 rebounds and 1.0 assist in 20.6 minutes per game…as a starter, averaged 7.7 points on .415 shooting, 3.5 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 23.1 minutes per game…scored a season-high tying 14 points to go along with seven rebounds at Charlotte on Jan. 16…grabbed a career-high 12 rebounds and scored six points against Sacramento on Feb. 19…recorded a season-high four steals and added nine points and two rebounds versus Dallas on Feb. 4…scored 10 or more points 16 times and 14 points three times…led or tied for the team lead in scoring once, rebounds twice, steals eight times and blocks 10 times…was a DND on April 26 with right knee/quad tendonitis.

Finished fourth in voting for the 2008-09 FIBA European Young Men’s Player of the Year Award (Rubio, Gallinari and Koufos)…averaged12.8 points on .744 shooting, 4.6 rebounds and 1.9 assists in the Israeli Premier League over the first 19 contests … averaged of 8.8 points on .771 shooting and 3.1 rebounds in 17.3 minutes per game in 16 Euroleague games … averaged 11.4 points and 4.0 rebounds in 25 games (seven starts) in 2007-08 for Maccabi Tel Aviv during Premier League play…began the campaign by visiting New York for Maccabi’s NBA exhibition game against the Knicks, registering eight points and four rebounds in just 16 minutes (Oct. 11, 2007)… joined Hapoel Galil Elyon on-loan from Maccabi for the 2006-07 campaign, posting 11.2 points on .706 shooting, 2.9 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 26 regular season contests … contributed 15.3 points, 3.2 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.33 steals in six EuroCup Challenge games, including a career-high 27 points vs. BK Prostejov…appeared in 20 Euroleague playoff games, posting averages of 4.5 points and 2.1 rebounds … tallied a postseason career high 18 points at FC Barcelona … averaged 4.7 points, 2.4 rebounds in 10.3 minutes per game in 19 regular season games as a rookie for Maccabi Tel Aviv (2005-06) … appeared in three Euroleague postseason games, totaling two points … starred in the junior ranks for team Hapoel in Holon, Israel before debuting professionally at the age of 17.

Full name is Omri Casspi…nickname is “O.C.”…son of Simon and Eilana Casspi…has a brother, Eitan, and a sister, Aviv… grew up in Hapoel Holon but moved to Maccabi Tel Aviv, playing in his native Israel his entire career…became the first Israeli player to be drafted in the first round…became the first player from Israel to play in the NBA when he made his debut on October 28, 2009 at Oklahoma City…participated in the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation’s “Viva La Cure” gala, helping raise funds for juvenile diabetes research…donates time, resources, and game tickets to numerous Jewish community groups cities across the country…favorite cuisine is Italian…enjoys playing tennis and spending time with family and friends.
