With a quick first step, Nick Van Exel earned one nickname "Nick the Quick." And for his propensity to hit big shots, he earned another - "Nick at Night." All that means is that he is among the most exciting backcourt players in the NBA. His shooting and playmaking helped the Los Angeles Lakers return to prominence early in his career before he was acquired by the rebuilding Denver Nuggets. The Dallas Mavericks traded for the feisty guard in 2002. Golden State traded for Nick in the summer of 2003 and the Portland Trail Blazers traded for Nick in the summer of 2004.
