Born Oct. 11, 1987 in Fayetteville, Ark. and raised in Indianapolis, Ind… Son of Rene and Mike Conley, Sr., a 1992 Olympic Gold Medalist in the triple jump and silver medalist in 1984… Has three siblings, Joan, Sydney and Jon… Mike, Sr. earned nine NCAA individual titles at Arkansas (class of 1985) and was inducted into the USA Track and Field Hall of Fame in 2004… Was a high school and college teammate of 2007 No. 1 overall draft pick Greg Oden of the Portland Trail Blazers… Both Conley Sr. and Jr. own high school basketball state championships… Participated with teammate Zach Randolph and other NBA stars in the “Ball For It All Classic” at the University of Indianapolis on Sept. 24, 2011… Along with Marc Gasol, Rudy Gay and Zach Randolph, co-hosted the 2012 Staxtacular event, his third consecutive year hosting the charity event to benefit the Stax Music Academy… An active participant in the Grizzlies TEAM UP Mentoring initiative throughout his NBA career… Is one of two Grizzlies players (Pau Gasol) to ever join the Grizzlies Foundation Board of Directors…Participated in the 2008 and 2009 “Peyback Bowl” event hosted by NFL superstar Peyton Manning, finishing second in 2008 to NFL Pro Bowl wide receiver Reggie Wayne… Along with Rudy Gay, served Thanksgiving meals and signed autographs to the teens at The Youth Villages Boys Shelter in Memphis in November 2008…Aspires to earn a degree in criminal law and become an attorney… An avid bowler, who averages over 200, hosted his second annual Bowl-N-Bash on Sept. 26, 2009 to benefit the Special Olympics and Memphis Police Sports Federation… Took part in Grizzlies Head Coach Lionel Hollins’ annual “Bowling for Backpacks” event in Memphis on Aug. 15, 2009…Mentored Team Europe as a selected NBA player-mentor during the 2009 Adidas Nations event in Dallas, Tex. |
