2011-12:

Averaged 11.9 points, 7.4 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 1.0 steal and 0.9 blocks, while shooting .491 from the field and .745 from the free-throw line, in his lone season at Kentucky, helping the Wildcats to the National Championship… Named Second Team USBWA All-American and Third Team NABC All-American, and was a top-15 finalist for the John R. Wooden Award, top-30 finalist for the Naismith Men’s Basketball Player of the Year Award and one of five finalists for the Wayman Tisdale Award, given to the nation’s top freshman as voted on by the USBWA… SEC honors included First Team All-SEC, SEC All-Defensive Team and SEC All-Freshman Team… Ranked sixth in the conference in rebounding, 13th in blocks, 13th in free-throw percentage and 23rd in scoring… Scored in double figures in 25 of 40 games played and grabbed double-figure rebounds eight times, tallying seven double-doubles… Led or tied for the team lead in scoring eight times, rebounding 10 times, assists six times and steals 11 times… Posted career highs of 24 points and 19 rebounds on Dec. 31 against Louisville, setting a team season high for rebounds in a game… The 19 rebounds was the most by a Kentucky player since Rajon Rondo had 19 against Iowa on Nov. 21, 2005 and was the most ever by a Kentucky player against Louisville… Named Most Outstanding Player of the South Region during the NCAA Tournament after posting a career-high-tying 24 points and 10 rebounds in the Sweet 16 victory over Indiana and leading the team with 19 points on 7-10 shooting in the Elite Eight win over Baylor… Tallied 11 points and six rebounds in the title game against Kansas.

The son of Cynthia and Vincent Richardson… Has one sister, Latasha Richardson… Legally changed his last name to Kidd-Gilchrist in 2011 to honor his late uncle, Darrin Kidd… Won a Gold Medal with the U.S. National Team at the FIBA Under-17 World Championships in 2010 and was a member of the U.S. team in the 2011 Nike Hoop Summit.
