At Georgia, Jones displayed some impressive numbers during his brief career. As a sophomore, he became the first Bulldog to lead the SEC in scoring since Vern Fleming in 1984. The 6-7 forward also was the first sophomore in school history to score 1,000 points since Dominique Wilkins reached the plateau in 1981. Jones recorded 28 double-doubles (points-rebounds) in two seasons, and finished his college career averaging 16.6 points and 9 rebounds per game. He was named first-team All-SEC by both the conference coaches and the Associated Press following the 1999 season. Jones also was a member of the gold-medal-winning U.S. team in the 1998 Goodwill Games, averaging 7.4 points and 3.6 rebounds per game.
