The early-entry candidate was drafted by the Memphis Grizzlies in the first round (22nd overall) of the 2014 NBA Draft on June 26, 2014... Signed a multi-year contract with the Memphis Grizzlies on July 7, 2014.

Averaged 16.4 points, 4.6 rebounds, 2.1 assists and a school-record 2.43 steals on .467 shooting in 30.2 minutes in 69 games (63 starts) in two seasons (2012-14) at UCLA, leading the Bruins to consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances and a Sweet 16 berth in 2013-14... Finished his collegiate career with 168 steals, the seventh-highest mark in school history, and established the Bruins’ single-season steals record with 95 steals in 2013-14... 2013-14 (Sophomore): Led the team with 17.4 points and 2.64 steals to go with 5.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists on .485 shooting in 30.1 minutes in 36 games (all starts) in leading UCLA to the Sweet 16... Two-year varsity basketball letter winner at Oak Hill Academy (Mouth of Wilson, Va.) after transferring from Central Gwinnett High School... Led Oak Hill Academy to a school-record 44-0 record and guided the program to its seventh FAB 50 national title as a senior (2011-12)... Served as team captain during his senior season and captured co-MVP honors at the end of the season... Averaged 19.8 points, 5.0 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 3.5 steals as a senior... Finished his career as the school’s fourth all-time leading scorer... Competed for the Atlanta Celtics AAU team in the summer of 2011 alongside current Grizzlies teammate Jarnell Stokes and had a breakout performance against the Dream Vision, which featured UCLA teammate and current Minnesota Timberwolves guard Shabazz Muhammad.
