Full name is John Levell Starks- John and his wife Jacqueline have three children, John, Jr., Chelsea and Tiara
- Hosted a youth basketball camp in the summer of 1998
- Enjoys listening to jazz and playing tennis
- Oversaw the efforts of the John Starks Foundation in hometown of Tulsa and was active in the Boys Brotherhood republic on Manhattan's Lower East Side
- Honored in a downtown parade in Tulsa on "John Starks Day" on July 4, 1994
