Background

2011-12:

After playing in just five of the previous 22 games, and seeing a total of 20 minutes in those outings, he made his first start for the Pacers vs. Detroit, 4/23, totaling a season-high 10 points with seven rebounds and two blocked shots in 18 minutes...that was his only appearance with more than nine minutes and he totaled 108 minutes in 20 games played...that was also the only game in which he scored more than four points or had more than four rebounds...his blocks against the Pistons were his only ones of the season...after sitting out the first nine games, including four with a sprained right knee, he made his debut with the Pacers vs. Atlanta, 1/11...scoreless (0-4 FG) against the Hawks, he had two rebounds...he scored his first points as a member of the Pacers vs. Boston, 1/14, on 1-2 FG...after 0-4 from the floor in his initial appearance against the Hawks, he shot nearly 50 percent from the field (15-32, .469) the remainder of the season...in his last four outings he had five offensive rebounds, including a season-high tying three vs. Detroit, and he totaled 12 offensive boards on the season...he also had three offensive rebounds vs. Golden State, 2/28...his average of 14.9 rebounds per 48 minutes led the Pacers and was 24th best among NBA players with at least 20 appearances.

2010-11:

He suffered a torn ACL in his right knee in the second quarter of a preseason game at Utah, 10/7, and was waived by Portland, 10/25…he subsequently missed the entire 2010-11 season

2009-10:

He finished his rookie season with averages of 2.7 points, 2.5 rebounds and 10.4 minutes per game in 39 appearances that featured four starts…for the Trail Blazers, he shot a team-high 66.2 percent (43-65) from the field...among NBA rookie leaders, he ranked eighth in blocked shots (0.41) and tied for 20th in rebounds (2.5)…he netted a career-best 23 points (11-15 FG) vs. Golden State, 4/14, and grabbed a career-high 14 rebounds vs. the L.A. Clippers, 12/30...he scored two points in four minutes in his NBA debut at Dallas, 12/22...he underwent surgery to correct a left hip impingement, 9/29/09, and spent the first 27 games on the inactive list.

PLAYOFFS:

2011-12: He played in four games, two in each of the series vs. Orlando and Miami...he totaled nine minutes, two points and two rebounds....2009-10: He made three appearances in the Blazers’ first round series with Phoenix, totaling seven points, two offensive rebounds, two steals and three blocked shots in 16 minutes…against the Suns, he shot 2-4 FG and 3-4 from the free throw line.

COLLEGE:

He set Arizona State records for games played (126) and started (120), and his 1,588 career points were, at the time of his departure, sixth best by a Sun Devil all-time...he posted career averages of 12.6 points, 7.5 rebounds and 1.04 blocks…he finished his career second on the Sun Devils’ all-time rebounding list with 942…he is the only player to lead Arizona State in rebounding in four straight seasons…2008-09: He led the nation in field goal percentage (66.0%) as a senior, while averaging 14.5 points and 8.2 rebounds per game…named to the Pac-10 First Team, he posted 11 double-doubles and averaged 16.1 points and 9.0 rebounds in the final 15 games...He helped lead the Sun Devils to the NCAA Tournament for just the second time in 14 seasons and for just the fourth time in 28 seasons...2007-08: Named to the Pac-10 Third Team, he averaged 12.4 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.65 blocks per game…he shot 59.3 percent from the field, third best in the conference...he had 29 points and eight rebounds against Arizona to help the Sun Devils to their first win at Arizona since 1995…he shot a career-best 79.3 percent from the free throw line...he started all 34 games…2006-07: He averaged 12.1 points and a career-best 9.1 rebounds per game...his rebounding average was also the second best in school history and helped him earn Honorable Mention honors in the Pac-10...he was second in the Pac-10 in field goal percentage (.551) and rebounding average (9.1), and fourth in minutes per game (35.5) in league games...he had a season-high 19 rebounds against both Oregon and Colgate...2005-06: He averaged 10.9 points and 6.1 rebounds per game, to place him second and third respectively among all conference freshmen...as a result, he was named to the Pac-10 All-Freshmen Team…he averaged 13.0 ppg and 8.3 rpg over the final six games.


Personal

An economics major at Arizona State, he arrived on campus early in the summer of 2005 to get a head start on classes and the life around Tempe…he plays the piano…he has a younger sister, Samantha, and a younger brother, Tim…he was a teammate of Portland Trail Blazers Head Coach Nate McMillan’s son, Jamelle, in his final two seasons at Arizona State…he is a 2005 graduate of Etiwanda High School in Etiwanda, California, where he played alongside former Pacers’ teammate Darren Collison…he averaged 9.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game for an Etiwanda squad that went 31-2 in his senior year and was ranked second in the nation…his team started the season 13-0…Etiwanda went 31-3 in his junior year, including 10-0 in the Baseline League, and reached the southern California regional final.
