Assigned to Houston’s single-affiliation NBA D-League partner Rio Grande Valley on Nov. 6 and recalled on Dec. 23 … took the court in his first NBA game at San Antonio (12/25/13) … scored the first four points (1-3 FG, 2-2 FT) of his NBA career at Oklahoma City (12/29/13) … re-assigned to the Vipers on Jan. 20 and recalled on Jan. 30 … suffered a strained right hamstring in Rio Grande Valley’s game vs. the Tulsa 66ers (1/27/14) … re-assigned to Rio Grande Valley on Feb. 17 and recalled Feb. 21 … came off the bench with 14 points (3-5 FG, 2-4 3FG, 6-8 FT), four rebounds and three assists in 20:29 of action vs. the L.A. Born Isaiah André Canaan on May 21, 1991, in Biloxi, Mississippi … son of Sardie Canaan and Nicole Martin … grandmother is Bettye Ramsey … majored in advertising in college … family lived out of a FEMA trailer for two years after Hurricane Katrina hit Biloxi … does not know where he got his first and only NBA jersey, but he remembers it fondly as a No. 1 Tracy McGrady Rockets jersey, which he lost in Hurricane Katrina … played in a summer Adidas Nations camp where his coach was Rockets assistant Kelvin Sampson … was named a finalist for Mississippi Mr. Basketball after leading Biloxi High School to the 5A State championship and a 30-3 record … was also the Mississippi State Tournament MVP … named All-State as a junior and senior at Biloxi.
