- Made his 2011-12 season debut on Jan. 21 against Sacramento, scoring two points and grabbing five rebounds in five minutes.
- Ranked third in the NBA in rebounds per 48 minutes (19.4) and 10th in the league in blocks per 48 minutes (3.70) among all players with a minimum of 20 games played in the 2010-11 season.
- Made his postseason debut in Game 1 of the first round of the 2011 NBA Playoffs on April 17 at San Antonio, becoming the first Iranian to appear in NBA playoff history.
- Led Iran to an 8-1 record at the 2011 FIBA Asian Championship in Wuhan, China, while averaging 15.4 points, 11.4 rebounds and 2.89 blocks in 26.3 minutes with six double-doubles in nine games during the 2011 tournament.
- The first Iranian to ever play in the NBA, signed with Memphis as a free agent on Aug. 28, 2008.
- Led all 2008 Olympians in rebounds (11.2) and blocks (2.6) and averaged 16.6 points in five contests, despite his Iranian team finishing 0-5 in competition in Beijing, China.

Born on May 19, 1985 in Ahvaz, Iran… Won a silver medal at the 2002 Asian Under-18 Championship and a gold medal at the 2004 Asian U20 Championship while playing on Iran's junior national teams… Became the first Iranian to play in the NBA when he debuted on Dec. 30, 2008 vs. Phoenix… Is fluent in Farsi and Arabic… One of two Grizzlies to participate in the 2008 Olympics, along with Spain’s Marc Gasol… Holds summer basketball camps in Washington D.C., New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles… His 2009 Los Angeles summer camp at Cal State-Northridge, the first ever sports camp by an Iranian athlete in the U.S., featured a visit from the Los Angeles Lakers forward Ron Artest… Organized the Hamed Haddadi Javanan Foundation, a charity organization formed with the intention of awarding college scholarships to student athletes across the nation… Along with his Grizzlies teammates, dedicated a new playground to the students at Bruce Elementary School in Memphis in April 2009… During the 2011 NBA lockout, signed a short-term contract with his hometown team, Melli Haffari Ahvaz.
