BACKGROUND

Etdrick "Batman" Bohannon is a 6-9 shotblocker who got his nickname at Auburn-Montgomery for his ability to bat shots away. Not drafted, Bohannon made the Indiana Pacers' roster in 1997-98 as a free agent but played in just five games in his rookie season, spending most of the year on the injured list. A first team high school All American at Maine Central Institute in Pittsville, Maine, Bohannon spent one year at Arizona, sat out a year and then spent one year at Tennessee before finding his niche at Auburn-Montgomery. Bohannon averaged team-highs of 17.8 points, 10.2 rebounds and 3.50 blocks in 12 games for Auburn-Montgomery in 1995-96 before he was declared ineligible for the second semester. As a senior, Bohannon averaged 15.5 points, 9.4 rebounds and 2.38 blocks in 24 games, leading the team in rebounding and shotblocking and ranking second in scoring. In his two seasons at AUM, he shot .585 and .598 from the field. Although he earned a spot with the Pacers, he spent nearly all of his rookie season on the injured list, first due to an upper respiratory infection and then because of a pulled groin muscle. He did get to play in five games, going scoreless but grabbing six rebounds in 11 minutes of action.
