1997-98:
Perry backed up Terrell Brandon at point guard to give Milwaukee one of the quicker point-guard tandems in the league ... Played in 81 games, and started 33 games ... Scored 20 points (8-10 FG, 3-4 FT), in 21 minutes, in a 107-100 victory over the Toronto Raptors on 4/8 ... Totaled 21 points (10-14 FG) and a game-high 9 assists against the Philadelphia 76ers on 3/14 ... Posted a season-high 25 points (11-17 FG), 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals against the Indiana Pacers on 3/13.
1996-97:
Perry backed up Sherman Douglas at point guard in his first season in Milwaukee, giving the Bucks one of the quickest twosomes in the league ... He played in all 82 games, making three starts, and averaged 6.9 points, 3.0 assists and 1.20 steals in 19.5 minutes per game. He ranked second on the team in steals and third in assists and three-point field goals (49). He shot .474 from the field, .358 from three-point range and .745 from the line ... Despite his limited playing time he scored in double figures 25 times, including a season-high 19 points in an 88-86 win at Indiana on Jan. 25. He handed out a season-high seven assists in four different games and matched his career-high with six steals in a 109-100 loss to Philadelphia on Feb. 1.
1995-96:
Perry again played well as a key reserve and fill-in starter in 1995-96, although his playing time dipped a bit since Johnson was healthy for a greater part of the season. However, as a starter for 15 straight games December 12-January 19 in place of an injured K.J., he averaged a solid 15.4 ppg, 6.8 apg and 2.26 spg.
1994-95:
Perry was entertaining and efficient in 1994-95, a season in which he established himself as a bona fide NBA point guard. Although his previous three seasons had been spent as a part-time and minor league player, he opened the campaign with the Phoenix Suns. With Kevin Johnson hobbled by injuries, Perry became the team's starting point guard ... He was one of the more surprising players of the season. A starter in 51 games, Perry averaged 9.7 points, 4.8 assists, and 1.90 steals. His steals average was 8th best in the league and his assists rate was 27th highest. Even more impressive, he shot .520 from the field, 18th in the league and 2nd among guards, trailing only the Utah Jazz's John Stockton ... Perry was named NBA Player of the Week for the period ending November 20 after snaring 6 steals in two straight games. For the season, he was 25-of-60 from three-point distance for a .417 percentage. The Suns finished the regular season at 59-23 and atop the Pacific Division. Perry eventually yielded the starting point guard slot to Johnson. In the postseason Perry averaged 6.9 points in 11.8 minutes per game as the Suns bowed to the Houston Rockets in the conference semifinals.
1993-94:
After searching for a permanent situation for much of his three-year professional career, Perry found at least a temporary home with the Phoenix Suns in 1993-94. He joined the club at midseason as an injury replacement for Kevin Johnson and performed so well that Phoenix kept him for the rest of the year ... Perry began the season with the Grand Rapids Hoops of the Continental Basketball Association, averaging 13.8 points and 6.4 assists in 28 games. On January 22, with Johnson suffering through various ailments, Phoenix signed Perry to a 10-day contract. He started that night against the Portland Trail Blazers and logged 11 assists in 23 minutes. Not surprisingly, Perry eventually earned another 10-day contract; he was signed for the rest of the year on February 11 ... Despite a 13-game stint on the injured list with a strained lower back, Perry managed 27 appearances for the Suns and averaged 3.9 points and 4.6 assists in 16.0 minutes per game. He advanced with Phoenix to the postseason but saw action in only four contests.
1992-1993:
Perry excelled for the Portland Trail Blazers entry in the Los Angeles Summer Pro League, averaging 12.2 points and 4.6 assists. Portland signed him to a free-agent contract during training camp but then released him just before the start of the season ... When no other NBA teams showed interest, Perry returned to the Continental Basketball Association and provided one of the few bright spots for a struggling club. He averaged 12.2 points and 2.6 assists for a depleted Rochester Renegades squad that posted a CBA-worst 6-50 record.
1991-92:
Despite being selected in the second round of the 1991 NBA Draft by the Los Angeles Clippers, Elliot Perry's dream of setting down roots in an NBA city proved to be elusive ... Perry made the Clippers' roster but was waived after 10 games. He turned to the Continental Basketball Association and played briefly with the La Crosse Catbirds before the Charlotte Hornets signed him for the season in early December. Perry made 40 appearances for the Hornets as a reserve at point guard and finished with overall averages of 2.5 points and 1.6 assists per contest.
COLLEGE:
The Memphis native was a four-year force for the Memphis State Tigers, finishing as the only player in Metro Conference history to record career totals of more than 2,000 points and 500 assists. As a senior in 1990-91 he averaged a conference-leading 20.8 points and led the league in steals and assists. As a collegian, he had become the No. 2 scorer in Memphis State history with 2,209 career points.
