The Sixers acquired Coleman from New Jersey on 11/30 in the deal that sent Shawn Bradley to the Nets ... Posted two solid games in his first outings in a Philadelphia uniform, notching 17 points and 11 rebounds against Dallas on 12/6 and 27 points on 10-for-14 shooting from the field, 13 rebounds and seven assists at Cleveland on 12/8 ... Injured his right ankle on 12/9 at Boston and missed 18 straight games and 27 of the next 30 ... Reinjured his right ankle on 2/23 at Indiana, played just 19 minutes at Miami on 2/25 and was sidelined for the remainder of the season ...
In the 11 games he did play, averaged 11.2 points, 6.5 rebounds and 2.8 assists in 26.7 minutes per game, far below his All-Star level of play.
1994-95:
Jumped out to a good start in 1994-95, leading the New Jersey Nets in rebounding 12 times and in scoring seven times during the team's first 15 games ... A sprained right wrist sidelined him for three games in early December ... Came back to lead the club in either rebounds or points in six straight contests before a lacerated left hand placed him back on the sidelines for 10 days ... Rest of the season went much the same way - stretches of dominating play interrupted by injuries ... In one five-game span in January, topped the club in both rebounds and points four times ... Soon after, a chip fracture of his pelvic bone kept him out of action for two weeks ... Also missed the final 10 games of the season with a sprained left wrist ... Between injuries, averaged team highs of 20.5 points and 10.6 rebounds per game ... Was second on the club in blocked shots at 1.68 per contest ... Had a tough season from the field, shooting .424 as the Nets finished last in the league in field-goal percentage ... After three consecutive seasons in the playoffs, the Nets won only 30 games and missed the postseason.
1993-94:
At midseason, was voted a starter for the Eastern Conference in the 1994 NBA All-Star Game, his first such honor ... At the end of the regular season, was named to the All-NBA Third Team ... Began to emerge as one of the elite players in the league, averaging 20.7 points and 11.2 rebounds and earning a berth on the All-NBA Third Team ... Ranked 11th in the NBA in rebounding and 16th in scoring, while leading the Nets 48 times in rebounding and 30 times in scoring during the season ... Recorded a season-high 24 rebounds against the Sacramento Kings on 12/20 and was held to single digits in scoring only twice all year ... Shot .460 from the field and .808 from the line ... Under the guidance of first-year Nets coach Chuck Daly, helped the Nets to the NBA Playoffs once again for a rematch with the Cleveland Cavaliers ... Led the team in scoring 27 times and in rebounding 23 times during the season, shooting .504 from the field and .763 from the line ... Helped lead the Nets to their first playoff berth since 1986 as New Jersey met the Cleveland Cavaliers in the first round of the 1992 NBA Playoffs and lost, three games to one ... Selected by the New Jersey Nets as the first overall pick in the 1990 NBA Draft, was an instant success in the NBA, leading all rookies in scoring and rebounding en route to being named the 1991 NBA Rookie of the Year ...
