Born March 25, 1988 in Dallas, Tex… Full name is Darrell Antwonne Arthur… Mother is Sandra Arthur… Attended South Oak Cliff High School and led them to back-to-back Texas 4A state championships in 2005 and 2006, winning the tournament’s MVP both times… Named the Dallas Morning News Player of the Year in 2006 and co-Mr. Basketball by Texas Association of Basketball Coaches (TABC) in 2006… Named the 4A Player of the Year by the TABC in 2005 and 2006… Nickname is “Shady”… Was the first Kansas Jayhawk to don 00 since Greg Ostertag…After being selected in the 2008 NBA Draft, gained nearly 20 pounds of muscle before training camp… Joined fellow Jayhawks Xavier Henry and Josh Selby in Kansas University’s “Legends of the Phog” alumni exhibition game on Sept. 24, 2011 at Allen Fieldhouse… Played alongside his cousin, Quinton Ross, with the Grizzlies during the 2008-09 season… As part of the Grizzlies’ “Get Fit” initiative promoting health and well-being, hosted fitness assemblies at five different elementary schools in the Memphis area during the 2008-09 season… Hosted the opening of a Reading and Learning Center at the Downtown Porter Boys and Girls Club in Memphis in Sept. 2008… Along with Mike Conley, provided gifts for families from STREET Ministries on Dec. 23, 2011.
