  • Donated $100,000 to Yale during the 1996-97 season to create an endowment to help fund the school's basketball program
  • Has always been involved in the community and won the 195-96 J. Walter Kennedy Citizenship Award
  • Named by the Sporting News as a member of the "99 Good Guys in Sports"
  • For the past five summers, he has financed and hosted the Chris Dudley Basketball Camp. The 2000 camp hosted 64 boys and girls ages 10-17, representing 19 states and Canada
  • Gave $100,000 to Gates Creek Camp in Oregon, one of only two camps geared solely to young diabetics
  • Honored in the cable TV program "Heroes America" for his charitble contributions to diabetic young people
  • Earned one of USA Today's "Most Caring Athlete" awards for 1996
  • Donated $300,000 to Oregon "I Have a Dream" Foundation to sponsor 76 fourth graders at Vernon Elementary School, pledging to pay their way through college if they stayed in school and maintained good grades
  • Started the Chris Dudley Foundation, which supports programs that address needs of youths with disadvantages
  • Enjoys sailing, weightlifting, swimming, reading and travel
  • Loves football and baseball, and his favorite player growing up was Mike Schmidt
