THE DRAFT: Quoting Channing: “I think with the tools and the veterans we have here in New York, we can definitely have a winning team. I feel like I definitely can contribute. I’m not going to make any promises, except for that every night I’m going to give you my heart and soul. I feel like this is an opportunity of a lifetime, playing in the Mecca of basketball. To ruin that and take that for granted would be a real slap in the face.”... Quoting Knicks president, basketball operations Isiah Thomas: “He is just solid. When you talk about upside and potential, sometimes big men are said to have a ceiling. I think Channing has only scratched the surface of what he's going to be."... and quoting Channing again: “If (Isiah) wants me to stay in the gym, I'll set up a cot and shoot free throws at two in the morning. I'm being dead serious too about that. I like winning. Winning feels good, and I think the city needs to start winning. I'm not saying that the team last year couldn't do it, but I think we're going to be very good this year."...
