  • BACKGROUND

    After a fine college career at Oklahoma State, Bryant "Big Country" Reeves became the first collegian to be drafted by the Vancouver Grizzlies.

    2000-01:
    Had his eighth double-double of the season with 15 points and 12 rebounds in Denver on April 7 ... Missed four games due to a strained right rotator cuff from March 6-13 ... Posted two straight double-doubles, with 11 points and 11 rebounds against the Lakers on March 3, and 12 points and 10 rebounds against San Antonio on March 5 ... Had perhaps his best game of the season with 24 points and 12 rebounds against Boston on Feb. 13 ... Hit 20+ points for the second time this season with 21 against Miami on Jan. 19 ... Scored in double figures for the fourth straight game and fifth of the last six games with 14 points in Denver on Jan. 17 ... Followed up a great game in Seattle with 13 points and 16 rebounds on Jan. 13 vs. Cleveland ...     Reeves started all 75 games in which he played in 1996-97, missing seven games due to assorted injuries or illness. He was Vancouver's top rebounder at 8.1 rpg and ranked second on the team in scoring at 16.2 ppg and third in shotblocking at 0.89 bpg. He ranked seventh among all NBA centers in scoring. ... He capped his season with a career-high 39 points, plus 11 rebounds, in a 121-107 win at Phoenix on April 19. That was part of a month in which he averaged 21.0 points, 9.3 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game. He scored in double figures 56 times, including 19 times in 20 games around the All-Star break, and had 20+ points 24 times and 30+ points seven times. ... He hauled down double-figure rebounds 26 times and posted 23 double-doubles. He matched his career-high by grabbing 18 rebounds in a 102-92 win at Boston on Feb. 2.

    1995-1996:
    Reeves started the final 63 games of his rookie season and appeared in 77 games overall. He was a solid force for the expansion Grizzlies, ranking second on the team with 13.3 points per game and leading the club with 7.4 rebounds and 0.71 blocked shots per game. ... As a starter, Reeves averaged 15.2 points and 8.5 rebounds in 36.1 minutes per game. And after the All-Star break, his averages were 16.4 ppg and 8.4 rpg. ... Reeves scored a career-high 28 points against Minnesota on April 3, 26 points against Atlanta on Feb. 16, 26 points at Sacramento on March 11, 25 points at Toronto on Jan. 25 and 25 points and 17 rebounds against Portland on Dec. 15. He posted a career-high 18 rebounds against Orlando on March 15. ... Reeves led the Grizzlies in scoring and/or rebounding in 14 of their last 20 games. He topped the team in scoring 27 times overall and in rebounding 34 times. He scored in double figues in 53 games and reached double figures in rebounding in 23 games. He led Vancouver with 21 double-doubles.

    COLLEGE:
    Reeves finished in Oklahoma State's top three in career scoring (2,367 points, second), rebounds (1,152, second), blocked shots (194, third), field goal percentage (.585, first) and games played (136, first). In both his junior and senior years Bryant was a Third Team All-America selection by the Associated Press. Also named Big Eight Conference Player of the Year and Big Eight Tournament MVP during his college career, Reeves is one of five players in Big Eight history to amass 2,000 points and 1,000 rebounds. In his senior season Reeves led Oklahoma State to the NCAA Final Four and was subsequently named to the Final Four All-Tournament Team. The NCAA East Region MVP, he averaged 21.5 points and 9.5 rebounds while shooting a career-best .706 from the line.
