The rookie guard made 28 appearances for the Pacers, making his NBA debut at San Antonio, 11/5, where he had two points (1-1 FG) and a rebound in three minutes. Just over a week later, he recorded his first NBA assists in a loss at Milwaukee, 11/14, where he led the bench with three assists. Including a three-minute stint at New York, 11/18, he played in just three of the team’s first 21 games, but had at least one assist in two of those three games. After sitting out 10 straight games due to coaching decisions, he connected on his first 3-pt FG and made his first free throws in a Pacers’ uniform at Bankers Life Fieldhouse against the Cleveland Cavaliers, 12/12. In that game, he totaled six points on 1-1 from beyond the arc and 3-4 FT. The game with the Cavs was the first of seven straight appearances and he played in 11 of 13 games from 12/12 through 1/5. From that point on, he made just 13 appearances and never in more than three in a row. In the Pacers’ season finale vs. Philadelphia, 4/17, he had his best outing of the season with a career-high 11 points and a bench-high three assists. In that game with the 76ers, he drilled 5-5 from the foul line, tying his most free throws made of the campaign. Including both games at Milwaukee, he had a season- high three assists four times, adding three in a win over Atlanta, 3/25. He started the season 11-14 from the foul line, but then made just 1-4 FT vs. Detroit, 2/22, before going 2-2 from the line in back-to-back games at Cleveland, 3/18, and at Orlando, 3/19. He claimed a total of 18 rebounds and had a season- high three rebounds twice: at Cleveland, 12/21, and at Boston, 1/4. His three boards against the Celtics featured his first offensive rebound of the season and he wouldn’t have another until the game with Philadelphia, 4/17. He had 14 turnovers in his first 13 appearances and committed two or more five times in that span. However in his remaining 14 appearances he had just four turnovers and had no more than one in any of those remaining contests. He had at least one steal four times in his first 12 appearances and those four games accounted for six of his seven thefts on the season, as he added one vs. the 76ers, 4/17. He had a season-best two steals vs. Cleveland, 12/12, and then again at Milwaukee, 12/18. |
