Full name is Andre Emmett…his nickname is “Dre”…is the son of Regina Oliver…has six sisters (Darra Oliver, Rafiki Carter, Tiphani Carter, Releighla Marshall, Sasha Emmett and Simon Emmett)…his aunt, Karen Oliver, played basketball and ran track at Texas Southern University…graduated from Texas Tech in May of 2004 with a degree in business…chose business as his major because both during and after his playing career his goal is to be a businessman…was originally an early entry candidate for the 2003 NBA Draft before withdrawing and going back to Texas Tech to earn his degree…is thankful for having played for Texas Tech Head Coach Bobby Knight because he stressed discipline and education both on and off the court…likes to spend time with his family and friends when he is not playing basketball…says something that many people don’t know about him is that he can be a comedian…enjoys R&B and hip-hop and lists Lil’ Wayne as his favorite musical artist…picked Martin as his favorite television show…his favorite sport besides basketball is football and he lists his hometown Dallas Cowboys as his favorite team…says Charles Barkley and Michael Irvin were his favorite players when he was growing up…does not have any special pre-game rituals except to pray…wears a size 14 shoe.
